Finding Your Size of Helmet
To find the right custom helmet for you, You'll need to go to a motorcycle dealership or motorcycle gear dealership, the motorcycle dealership should have helmets if it doesn't, then go to gear store. Okay back to finding your size of helmet, the best way to find the size you need is to try on many different models and manufacturers and see which one is the most comfortable, it needs to squeezes your cheeks just a little, If it squeezes your cheeks your set, you'll be getting maximum protection. Which make gives you max protection? That's a good question
Arai's and Shoei's are known for good protection and they are expensive, (That's a good sign.) although thy are a bit loud, I'll talk about that in a little bit. AGV's are very good helmets they are definitely in my top ten list of helmets. They do give you a lot of protection for your head, Valentino Rossi wears them so they must be good. I haven't heard anything about them being loud but thats a good thing, you don't want to have your ears ringing after a long mountain pass ride. Nolan's are pretty good to, their very protective and their supposed to not be very loud. Nolan's are also in my top ten. Casey Stoner wears a Nolan helmet. By the way both of the names I've mentioned are very good racers from MotoGP
You want to have a helmet that is DOT and SNELL approved, If it's not don't get it. Anything only DOT approved is not going to give you maximum protection. How do you find out if it's approved from both of them? The helmet will say on the back, 'DOT and SNELL approved'.
QUIET and NOT Quiet helmets
Schuberth helmets are extremely quiet, they actually have a video test on their site that has a camera on the inside of a helmet on a moving motorcycle, and you can hear the reduction of noise on their helmet and the not quietness of the other helmets. It's EXTREMELY cool! (By the way Schuberth is form Germany.) Aria helmets have a reputation of being pretty noisy, although they are very safe helmets, and are very light weight, and do have really cool graphics on them. But we want a solid color helmet to customize, again I'll get more into that later in the article
Shoei helmets are a little quieter than Arai's but not as quiet as the Schuberth. Shoei's are very good helmets, their not as expensive as the Arai. 500 bucks isn't that much for a good quality helmet. Shoei's like the Aria are a little loud, the quietest helmet that I've EVER come across is the, you guessed it the Schuberth. HJC helmets are pretty loud, I have one and I know I have to wear earplugs. You should always wear earplugs when riding to preserve your ears. But HJC's do have a good side to them, the more expensive ones are DOT and SNELL approved and you can get them for cheap
Once you have selected the make and model of helmet and found out which one fits you best, you need to select the color. Any color is fine as long as it's solid, Red, Blue, White, Black, Gray. They all work. but my favorite solid color to have on a helmet is white, you just can't go wrong with white. OK, you've selected the color you want now you have to get it customized. All you need to do is buy some decals (stickers) and stick em' on your helmet, you could do it like that or you could take it to a specialty shop and have it done for you. What they do at the specialty shop is Airbrush it or paint it. but it can cost as much as, oh say, $3k at the most. But I'd say it's worth it to have an awesome looking custom helmet. The sky is the limit when getting a custom helmet, their are so many designs out there that you can choose from, you can even make up your own design. That's what I would go with, making my own designs. You can make it so much to your own liking it's ridiculous
